In the spring of 2015, one of our multi-level ESL classes completed a unit on celebrations and traditions.  One of the assignments in this unit was to write up a description of a holiday/tradition that was important to the students.  That particular assignment resulted in many writing pieces being submitted to the Change Agent for submission in their upcoming issue focusing on celebrations.  The Change Agent is an Adult Education Magazine for Social Justice that is utilized in many adult education programs across the country.  In June of 2015, Naugatuck Adult Education was notified that one of our student’s articles was selected to be published in the upcoming issue.  Hima Ginjupalli’s article about the celebration of Raksha-Bhandan was selected and appears on the pages of the current issue of the Change Agent!  Hima was born in India where she completed higher education in engineering.  She and her family moved to the United States a little over ten years ago.  Hima attends our multi-level ESL class located at Central Avenue Preschool in Naugatuck, CT.  Be sure to check out Hima’s article in this issue of The Change Agent!
